Suspend Sony VGN-FZ160E Laptop

I have a Sony VGN-FZ160E laptop. I'm posting this message because I've finally gotten the laptop's suspend mode to work after much trial and error, and wanted to share the configuration changes that appear to have allowed that to happen.

I'm currently running 8.04 with KDE, but I was previously running Ubuntu 8.04 with GNOME and had the same suspend issue.

The key appears to be in the file acpi-support located in the /etc/default/ directory. I made a number of changes to this file and cannot completely identify exactly which change or combination of changes made the difference, but the settings below work for my Sony FZ160E.

I wrote this HowTo in order to get an easy way to manage Samba share in a domestic lan (let's say home or very small office situations), where resides 2, 3 or more machines (with mixed OS contemplated).

Take in consideration that this is a very basic configuration and is not intended for complex or sophisticated network cases/needs.

The preparation
First of all, because this guide is intended for all of *ubuntu variants, we need to install an editor valid for all distributions for simplify the following commands explained later in this guide.

Code:
sudo apt-get install scite

Of course we need to install Samba daemon

Beautiful Emacs

The standard emacs package for Hardy looks incredibly horrible. The main reason for this is the ugly font it uses. The ugliness is exacerbated on large monitors. Anti-Aliased fonts improve the look tremendously. Unfortunately, the standard package doesn't support this...but the 'emacs-snapshot' package does. You'll need the universe repository enabled and then from a terminal:

Code:
apt-get install emacs-snapshot

Edit the file: ~/.Xdefaults (which probably doesn't exist yet)
Add the following line to this file:

Standards and SocietyThe latest blowback from the OOXML adoption process emerged last Friday in Brasilia, Brazil. This newest challenge to the continued relevance of ISO and IEC was thrown when major IT agencies of six nations - Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, Paraguay, South Africa and Venezuela - signed a declaration that deploring the refusal of ISO and IEC to further review the appeals submitted by the National Bodies of four nations. Those nations were Brazil, India, South Africa and Venezuela, and the statement is titled the CONSEGI 2008 Declaration, after the conference at which it was delivered.
