Using HTC SmartPhone wireless modem with Kubuntu/Ubuntu
After a few hours of headaches, I've sucessfully used my HTC phone as a wireless modem with kubuntu 7.10 (should be same with Ubuntu).
Follow these steps to get it working (tough mine is a HTC S720, should work as well on other models):
(Dependencies: wvdial command and ipaq kernel modules)
1- Plug your HTC using usb cable to your computer
2- Make sure your data connection is closed and then run the wireless modem program
3- Start the connection (Menu/Start) on your PDA
4- Now, on your linux, type in bash "lsusb" (without quotes) and you should see something like this:

Bus 006 Device 002: ID 04f2:b008 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd

Transfer files through ssh?
Question:
hello im connected to my friends computer through ssh, we're tyring to upload some files on his pc onto the one i have here... whats the command to transfer files AND folders? on to the PC's here and there?
Answer:
Use Nautilus and sftp. Make sure you have a location bar, if you don't click the icon on the far left next to location, then in the location bar type:
Put GParted Live on a Partition
Items colored in red will have to be replaced by your own value.
Why would you want GParted on your hard disk? Because it's easy to do and you don't need to keep track of any CDs.
You'll need, say a 120MB partition (preferably ext3, but it could be anything GRUB reads) just to be safe. If you don't have one, you can make one with GParted Live CD or Ubuntu Live CD (System->Administration->Partition Editor)

Ubuntu Server vs. Windows Small Business Server: Looming Showdown?
Source: http://www.thevarguy.com/2008/09/02/ubuntu-server-vs-windows-small-busin...
Some small businesses and start-ups are standardizing on Ubuntu Server Edition because it’s a low-cost alternative to Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 and 2008. The VAR Guy wonders: Could a bigger trend be coming? Will hundreds — or thousands — of small businesses make the move to Ubuntu Server Edition?
Frankly, it’s too soon to say. And The VAR Guy only has anecdotal evidence that Ubuntu Server is catching on in small businesses.
